Repair costs have also increased dramatically recently, with the Association of British
Insurers (ABI) reporting in April 2024 that the cost of vehicle repairs to insurers in 2023 was
£6.1bn, a jump of 31% from the £4.7bn that was paid in 2022.
This is partly due to inflation, as well as the fact that newer vehicles are more expensive to
repair due to advancements in technology.
